42nd Street Taps Its Way Into Shanghai Sept. 5, Launching Fall China Tour
By Kenneth Jones, Playbill, 05 Sep 2007
What is 42nd Street?
We’re really pleased to watch 42nd Street in Longgang 2 nights ago, and can’t help thinking what it’s like to see it on Broadway in 1980s. Back then, 42nd Street in New York really meant something. But for Chinese audiences, we are not quite familiar with that period of time. So, here we give a detail introduction about 42nd Street.
The End of Rehearsals & Previews in Longgang, China
So that’s it. We leave Longgang, China after a month of rehearsals & previews. It’s been a long, sometimes exhausting time! But it’s all starting to pay off. Now the cast is off for a week vacation in Shanghai before we open there the first week of September.

We’re In The Previews!
“42nd Street” in Asia is now in preview performances in Longgang, China. The cast moves to Shanghai now for a week vacation before the tour’s official opening night there. There was a really overwhelming response to the first preview in Longgang, so we’re all hoping for a great opening in Shanghai.
Update on 42nd Street's Rehearsal
So glad to have Darren Donahue’s reply with more update again. Now the costumes have arrived China from the U.S.A, and the cast is doing rehearsal with costumes on. Basically rehearse one song by another.
42nd Street's Background Story
We thought it’s nice to share the background story with our readers who love Broadway Musicals.
Geoffrey's Tap Dance
Hi again,
We’ve found this cool tap dance video from Geoffrey Goldberg’s personal website a while ago, and now we finally managed to post it online for more people to watch it. (Geoffrey’s web: http://www.geoffrey-goldberg.com/)
More Rehearsal Pictures_part 1
Mentioning about our 42nd Street cast’s busy schedule in the previous post, we’re happy to receive a lot more pictures from the rehearsal.
